Privacy Policy

This agreement was written in English (US). To the extent any translated version of the Dutch agreement conflicts with the Dutch version, the Dutch version controls.

Kroupys believes that your privacy is very important. We therefore respect the privacy of the Users and will treat all data and personal information with utmost care. This privacy policy applies to the Service and all other services provided by Kroupys. By agreeing the Terms and Conditions of Kroupys you agree with the use of your personal information and data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Data collection

Kroupys collects two types of information from you. First, we collect personal data such as your name, profile photo, email address and other contact data. This is what we could describe as ‘active’ data, it’s data which you actively fill in. You could also think of Content which you publish on the Website, or messages, photo’s, video’s, ranks, interests, tags, relations to other users and any other type of content. Second, we also collect certain information which might be collected without your notice. This data is captured by the systems of Kroupys and could be described as ‘passive’ data. Some examples of passive data which are collected by us are the ip-address of your internet connection, which internet browser you use to register, the operating system you use, keep track of the websites you visited, day-time information, location, language settings.

We also make use of “cookies”, which are stored on your computer through the internet browser. In fact, cookies are no more than small text files and are completely harmless to your computer. These cookies store some personal preferences and expand the functionality of Kroupys. By using cookies we can let you stay logged onto the Kroupys service if you close your internet browser. You are able to setup your browser in such a way that cookies are denied from being used and installed. When u decide to do this, the usefulness of Kroupys will considerably be reduced. By accepting the Terms and Conditions and the Policies you have authorized Kroupys to place cookies on the smart phone, or computer, that visits the Website. Kroupys does not use third-party cookies.

You can always change your personal information, such as your name and email address. If you are experiencing problems with this you can contact us via email. The content posted by you cannot be removed, or in some cases modified, by you or any other user. There however is an option to report inappropriate behavior to our staff. The staff will judge the notification and the content and might decide to disable, remove or modify the content. Please note that this means that others might also notify our staff about content that you have published on the Website.

Use of data

Personal Information which you knowingly provide may be used to provide you with access to certain parts and functionalities on the Website. It is only possible to post Content when we know your name and as we are able to identify you with your password. Your email address is not visible to others, but is used to communicate with you about updates or other relevant information and/or developments.

It is important to choose a good an secure password (use a combination of numbers, symbols, lower and higher case letters) and keep this password to yourself. The passwords are encrypted and stored in the database and unavailable to our Employees. If you have forgotten your password you can request a new password. We will then sent you an automatically generated password by email, it therefore is crucial that we are aware of your e-mail address. You can modify or add your email address at the Profile Settings section.

You can specify which users have access to certain parts of your data, or whether they can approach you directly via a message or a (virutal) relationship in the Privacy settings section. At registration the setting are as open, or as public, as possible. Kroupys will not sell any personal data to others, unless you have explicitly given your permission. We only provide this information to third parties to in order for fill our obligations to mandatory law.

Passive information is used to improve the quality of the Service and the Website. We do this for you personally and for Kroupys. Registering what type of operating system and browser you use helps us to develop specific and targeted improvements. We use this information completely anonymously. Information regarding which websites you have visited helps us to notify you about any updates on these, or about these, pages.

Responsibilities of Kroupys

We do our utmost best to protect your data against any form of unlawful processing. However, please take note that Kroupys is not responsible for the content and the operation or storage of the Content posted by the Users. Furthermore, we would like to notify you on the fact that the content might, and will be, indexed by search engines or other external websites.

There is a possibility that by clicking on a hyperlink in the Content, you might be redirected to any third party website. We obviously have no say in other websites and their way of computing, of their Privacy Policy, and of their terms and conditions. Kroupys will not accept any responsibility or liability for the operations of content, and actions on third party websites.

The Content, including private messages, are transmitted and stored without any encryption. The Content might be reviewed by our staff if it is considered to be inappropriate (eg: spam or threats). We will save all data and content as long as the mandatory law prescribes. The username and IP-address might be blocked if Kroupys considers the User to be conflicting with this privacy policy or the terms and conditions. In such a case the Contents of the User will be made anonymous, but remain visible on the Website.

Upon request Kroupys will inform you about what data is collected. Kroupys may refuse to process any such requests if repeated in an unreasonable manner or if the requests are systematic, should require extraordinary technical efforts, should put the privacy of other Users at risk, or if they are virtually unfeasible, practically seen (e.g. request with respect to data that have been stored on back-up tapes), or should not require access generally speaking. In all cases where we support access and data correction we supply this service free of charge, except where performing this service should require extraordinary efforts.
