Seen an interesting documentary? Let's share!
Best answer from Katia Meggiorin:
Thanks Lotte! I'll watch it for sure :) And I'd like to suggest u the documentary The Mona Lisa Curse. http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/mona-lisa-curse/
It is actually about Modern Art and the art business. But it discuss it from a mass consumption point of view and the commercialization of art itself. I think it gives some good…

How much is to much friends on Facebook? The article of Tong, van der Heide & Langwell (2008) states that to much friends can lower your social attractiveness. This is an article from 2008, do you still believe that 800 friends are to much friends?
Best answer from Frits Koot:
I think that 800 friends is a crazy amount of friends for any normal person. That being said, I can image that certain people (for instance freelance photographers) can have a good motivation to have that many connections on a social network site. When I see people that have a huge…

Confused or annoyed by fake accounts?
Best answer from Frits Koot:
I see that they are also deleting pet accounts. It has always puzzled me why people create accounts for their pets. I hardly doubt that their dogs or cats will have much to contribute themselves.
It's an interesting development, as it does help keep FB clear of nonsense. This may help FB…

Does Web 2.0 have a positive influence in a) democracy, b) politics and c) elections?
Best answer from Katia Meggiorin:
I agree that web 2.0 add value to political communication, but I would not over estimate it power. I can make a clear example by comparing the election's campaigns of Obama (2008 and 2012) and Monti (2013). In both cases the director of the campaigns was David Axelrod. In both case he…

After reading the article about Twitter authentic and imagined audience, iI was wondering who do you think of when you post something on Twitter or Facebook. Who is your audience?
Best answer from Tom Schoutsen:
I think that on Twitter, your audience is potentially the whole twitterverse. It's important to keep this in mind when you tweet something, unless ofcourse you have a private account like Cindy. In that case, your audience is similar to the one you have on Facebook. Only the people on…

I suppose all of you (or most of you) have whatsapp on your smartphones, so i was wondering if you consider the ability to see whether someone has read your message and/or opened the application (Last seen: today at 14.30), as well as the other way around that someone can see whether you read someone's message or opened the application, as an invasion of your privacy? I know that some of my friends switch off this feature because they didn't want other people to see whether the read the message or not.. What do you think about this?
Best answer from Jori Verdijk:
I think most people switch the function off because it takes away the opportunity to ignore a message without the sender knowing. So while in a way this is a problem of privacy for the receiver, because once he/she read it the sender will know, it is also a problem…

Since people constantly 'like' things on Facebook, what do you guys think about adding a 'dislike' button?
Best answer from Maurice Slot:
Although many Facebook users would love this feature, it is never going to happen. Social software is all about experiences and it isn't a pleasant experience when people dislike your new profile picture, post, etc. Some people argue that the like-button was crucial for the transition from myspace to facebook. It…

Do we create little digital technology and internet junkies by just given our children access to mobile phones, Facebook/Hyves and the internet? Can they enjoy themselves without the internet?
Best answer from Rogier Kamphuijs:
I don’t really know about children and their level of enjoyment. I do however know some (maybe relevant theories about cyborgism. A cyborg, short for "cybernetic organism", is a being with both organic and cybernetic parts. Most common example might be the prosthetic leg, but you might also think of…

If Facebook's user database gets hacked, will you remove your account?
Best answer from Lotte Meijling:
I had the strangest thing this morning.. woke up and wanted to check my Facebook but it was blocked because someone tried to access my account from a strange place, which was somewhere in Chicago. Paranoid as I am, I thought this was the same person/group of people that skimmed…

I was thinking about privacy issues and about that a lot of parents are posting loads of pictures (and videos) of their children on the internet. When these children are adults, it is likely that there are pictures of them floading around on the internet. But maybe these individuals do not want that. Do you think parents should critically think about this before posting? And what would be your opinion, if the e-generation had began earlier, and there would now be pictures of your first steps, you making funny faces or even a movie of you when your diaper got changed (seriously, I've seen it!) or you singing extremely out of tune?
Best answer from Alan Ryan:
I absolutely think that parents should think a lot more about what they post online. I have several friends from high school in their mid 20's who have become parents in the last year or two. Some of the content makes me particularly uncomfortable (e.g. images of the child shortly after birth…

Are we losing the control of our privacy with the existence of Facebook?
Best answer from Evita:
I don't think it's fair that Facebook users are not automatically informed about what can and can't be seen by others. Some people don't have a problem with providing their private information but some people like my mom (yup, she's on Facebook) did not realise that strangers were able to see the things…

What is your vision on the future of the "Networked Society" (see video)?
Best answer from Rolf Niesten:
I like the youtube movie but that will take at least a decade before every electric device communicates with each other. When you look at all the things what are happening now, like this kickstarter project: http://kck.st/TYUFHF, I think were are heading to the "internet of things". Since you have your mobile phone always…

Can Twitter really help college students with their lectures?
Best answer from Dirk Maatschap:
I experienced that it was actually quite annoying to use twitter in class. We tried an experiment with twitter hashtags to make a 'timeline' with questions. Our professor was able to see who participated really well and used this information to grade us. I noticed that it wasn't really working due to the…

What characteristics of gamification enables an individual to share knowledge? With knowledge sharing, I mean both the collection of knowledge as the sharing of knowledge.
Best answer from laitenz:
Well, taking a look at this platform I would say it´s the bonus points / trophies you earn for helpful answers! It creates some kind of competition and the desire to show people, that you are a helpful specialist in your area.

Where would you look for teammembers or co-founders for a new startup?
Best answer from Agnes Timmermans:
Pffieuw, thats a really hard question. I have spoken to Dennis Crowley, co-founder of Foursquare, and he stated that growing the team is one of the biggest problems for startups. There are some sites that list startups that who are in search of teammembers, but most often the first employees are…

My motivation is intrinsic, but at a professinal work enviroment people are less inclined to offer advice that's free of charge. This is a popular subject in business administration: Social norms vs market norms.

What is the best way for organizations to use social media and why?
Best answer from serkanteker:
Social media is quite hype around the world in many enterprises across various industries. However the real challenge that lies ahead of businesses is to build up an effective social media approach around consumer based business strategies. What I mean is to turn the "likes" into "buys" or "loyalty". Everybody collects…

What do you think about Facebook's acquisition of Instagram?
Best answer from Horace Deelsman:
Paul. Facebook isn't buying off competition. They are presenting us with a perfect example of open innovation. http://www.kroupys.com/10659/Open-Innovation/ for more information on this topic.
Facebook's strategy seems to follow open innovation thinking. Buy everything that may be usefull for your company and let other people use, and develop it, through their API.
